All around is blue. A slightly different blue than what I have seen before, but still blue. George says itâs because we are on the South China Sea like before, but here it is much deeper, so even though the water seems the same, it is a lot darker too. Funny. We have been out on the sea for a long time, sometimes stopping, sometimes not. We have been to a place called Port Dickson in Malaya and picked up some humans that George said were called the Malay Regiment. Port Dickson was quite small. The humans were too.
They didnât sail with us for long, but they made the sailors laugh because of how they used the heads. I still donât know why they call them that. George said the humans from Malay would squat with their feet on the seat instead of sitting down and they would fall off when the sea was rough and make a mess. When George told me that, at first I thought he meant they would have their heads on the floor and their legs in the air, but how funny that different humans do their condodderate business in different ways too, and that they can get into trouble if they do it wrong.
Now George says we are heading north this time, instead of south. I know what north and south mean; they mean up and down like east means starboard and west means port, but I donât know how he can tell that we are moving north instead of south. Over there is the sea, behind us is the sea. All around: the sea. When it is daytime I know that the sun appears on our starboard side and on the port side when it is sleep time for the sailors. At night time George points out the moon and the stars and says sailors used to look at the moon, the stars and the sun to navigate. I just feel the hot sun burning me and see the stars twinkling and the moon that sometimes follows the ship and other times when it is not there at all.
And as well as the blue being all around, the funny thing is that Peggy says both of us have the blues too. Having the blues means we are very sad. Does that mean the sea is always sad then? Or the sky? And when they change colour does that mean they arenât sad anymore? I donât know. I donât know what to feel or think lately. When I close my eyes to go to sleep I sometimes get scared. I donât see many pictures of JoJo anymore and that makes me unhappy. I do see pictures of Lilette, but a lot of the time we are both being chased and I donât know what by. I think it is a monster, but I never actually see one. So that is why I am sad. I miss JoJo. I miss Lilette. And also I am sad because of those rats.
